People Across the Country Celebrated Dussehra, to mark the victory of good over evil.
Dussehra is derived from Sanskrit word "Dasha-hara", which means the removal of 10 bad qualities.
The festival is also known as Vijaya Dashami, Dasara or Dashain in different places.
Seeking to reach out to more people, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the countrymen over radio for the first time, giving a pep talk about how to shed despondency and use their skills for betterment and prosperity of the country.
In order to increase the revenues, the Indian Railways has decided to sell Tatkal tickets at a higher rate. Passengers buying Tatkal tickets for the Delhi-Mumbai Rajdhani and 80 other trains will have to shell out more money from today.

The Australian cabinet has given its approval for fighter jets to join the US-led military action against Islamic State targets in Iraq.
Over 2 million Muslims from around the world gathered at a desert hill near Mecca in Saudi Arabia in an act of faith and repentance during the climactic emotional and spiritual moment of the annual hajj pilgrimage.
Saudi Arabia has made contingency plans in the event of an Ebola outbreak, including deploying medical staff at airports and setting up isolation units as nearly three million Muslims from across the world flock to perform the hajj pilgrimage.

Business & Economy

The world oil prices have dropped to their lowest levels in more than a year.
The move follows the decision by Saudi Arabia, one of the world's largest oil producers to cut its oil prices for the fourth month in a row but without any signs of cutting its production to ease the glut in the global supply.
Travel industry body International Air Transport Association (IATA) said that India's domestic market increased by 7.4 percent in August over the previous year.
